Optimizing health and increasing educational opportunities for children in need.

Our primary focus at Kids Ark is children. In order to care for children we must pay attention not just to their social needs, but also to their mental and physical needs so that their mind, body and spirit may be best harmonized to develop into adulthood.

Some practical ways for us to achieve our vision are:

1) To provide a ‘House of Hope' in each school that Kids Ark operates. This “House of Hope” will provide children with a clean and safe shelter after school. It will be supervised by dedicated and caring staff who assist them with homework and who also provide extra-curricular activities that are educational and fun. At the House of Hope they are provided with a nutritious meal and a nurturing environment.

2) To provide support to as many children-in-need as possible by offering them the opportunity to complete their schooling through our sponsorship program. A basic education is important for the children to give them a better chance in life, and to provide opportunuties for income-earning other than practices such as prostitution. Kids Ark believes education is the only practical path out of poverty.

3) To provide access to vocational training for those children who are high achievers at school. This provides motivation to other children and encourages them to further their studies.

4) To optimize the children's health through education and adult guidance, by having a nurse in the health center in the local village attend to the basic medical needs of the children.

5) To provide self-sustainable ways of generating income for the villagers. One way to do this is to provide training to produce high quality local handicrafts.
